The Dee in Spring

32 bar Strathspey for 3 couples exactly, danced three time through; devised by Mel Briscoe

   
      The dance was presented to Sally Dee at the April 1996 Salem Spring Party in Salem, Massachusetts. The dance is meant to express timeless strength, beauty, and joy, like the Dee in Spring.    
             
 

bar 1-8

Tourbillon and Link. Couples 1 and 2 dance 6 bars of the Tourbillon, ending nearer hands joined with partners, Couple 1 facing up (in second place), Couple 2 facing down (in first place). Couples 2 and 1 Link across the set with partners, to finish progressed, on own sides.

Set, Circle, and Set and Link for 3. Couples 2, 1, and 3, taking hands on the side, set, circle 6 hands half way round (to opposite sides), and Set and Link for 3. End facing up and down, in lines of 3 across.

   
 

bar 17-24

 

Repeat bars 9-16. Set, circle 6 hands half way round (to lines of 3 across), and Set and Link for 3. End facing across, on opposite sides, in order 3,1,2.

   
 

bar 25-32

 

Couples 3,1, and 2, taking hands on the side, advance for 1 bar, retire for 1 bar, turn with two hands one and one-half times round to own sides in 4 bars, and set.
